I never thought it would happen to me...

Mon Mar 06, 2006 at 11:40:16 AM PDT

I know it is cliché to say I never thought it would happen to me but on Friday, March 3rd, 2006 I was laid off from my job due to budget cuts. To say I was shocked was an understatement; I truly never thought it would happen to me. I worked for this company for four years and it was much more than a job to me, it was my life. Even when I wasn't at the office I was working at home. I worked nights and weekends on a regular basis, not because I had to, but because I wanted to. I know people don't hear this very often but I loved my job. I loved the people, I loved the atmosphere, and I even loved my work. Now it's all gone and I feel like I have lost a mate of four years in an instant.

Mr. President... You're Fired!

Thu Sep 22, 2005 at 07:25:01 PM PDT

I'm going to take it upon myself to speak for all of America to say that you are an absolute failure to the American people. Some of us knew this from the day you were appointed President by the Supreme Court, others are finally starting to wake up and they are seeing through the act.

You and every Republican in Government owe us all an apology. An apology for the bullshit that you and your propaganda machine vomit onto the American public. You owe us an apology for not catching Osama Bin Laden, America's REAL enemy. You owe us an apology for destroying our public schools (I live in Texas, 50th in Public Education). Frightening. You owe us an apology for destroying our environment... In Dallas, TX we have Orange and Red level pollution alerts EVERY DAY in the summer. You owe us an apology for Karl Rove, Dick Cheney and every other hack in the Republican led Congress, Halliburton, Enron, Bechtel, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, a bunch of other windbags and your mother!

Do Republican Senators Care About Democrat Constituents?

Sun Apr 03, 2005 at 01:23:15 PM PDT

I have always believed that voting is not only my right, but my duty as an American citizen. I have also always believed that part of that duty is letting my Senators know when I am unhappy about their positions or their voting records. I call and write my Senators often even though I know since I live in Texas and both my Senators are Republican my opinions don't matter to them. The last letter I sent was asking for reissurance that MY Senators would NOT vote to privatize Social Security - this is the (form letter) reply I got from cold fish Kay Bailey Hutchison.

Jimmy Carter to Chair Election Reform Commission

Fri Mar 25, 2005 at 03:56:17 PM PDT

It's so nice to have some good news out of DC! With all of this Brownshirt insanity it's nice to see that Jimmy Carter will be the new Chair of the Election Refom Commission for American University's Center for Democracy and Election Management.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Former President Jimmy Carter will lead a bipartisan commission to examine problems with the U.S. election system, American University's Center for Democracy and Election Management said on Thursday.

...

The Center for Democracy and Election Management, which will organize the work of Carter's commission, said the group would hold two public hearings -- the first on April 18 at American University in Washington and the second at Houston's Rice University in June.

The Commission on Federal Election Reform aims to produce a report to Congress on its findings by September.

Jimmy Carter is the best man for the job!

Get out your wallets... The Dems need money...

The Brownshirts are outraising us again as Julian Brooks from the Mojo Blog kindly points out.

This is so damn funny!

Thanks to TBogg and "his daily does of snark" for absolutely making my day! This brilliant commentary on a Hannidate ad is one of the funniest things I've read in ages! The Brownshirts are a never ending source of entertainment. Here's a small sample to wet your whistle.

From the I'm a Republican and I'm an idiot files...

I just read this over at thinkprogress.org and I was so amazed at how STUPID some people really are that I had to post it here.

Audience Member: First of all, I'd like to say that I'm a volunteer - one of your very loyal and dedicated volunteers in Plant City.
President Bush: Well, thank you. (Applause.)
Audience Member: And I'm very happy to have you as the President. (Applause.)
President Bush: Thank you.
Audience Member: Thank you. (Applause.)
President Bush: Okay, okay, wait a minute. (Applause.) Thank you very much. I appreciate you saying that. Now, having said that, however - (laughter.)
Audience Member: I do have a question. I'm on Social Security.
President Bush: Right.
Audience Member: And I'm disabled, and I just wondered if there's going to an intensified program into some of the disability benefits that they have now.
President Bush: No.
Audience Member: Okay. (Laughter.) Whatever program that you put out for Social Security I'm fully behind it. You have my support.

Dan Rather and the Hypocritical Right...

Wed Feb 16, 2005 at 10:22:53 AM PDT

Over the last few days I have heard/read over and over again how the wingnut bloggers managed to get Dan Rather ousted from CBS for being "too liberal" and for botching the Bush National Guard story. That got me to thinking about a blurb I read a couple of years back. After lots of searching I found the story here from April 2003 - this is what it said:

Who is JD Guckert Sleeping with at the WH?

Mon Feb 14, 2005 at 06:13:05 PM PDT

Is it just me or does it seem more than likely that JD Guckert [aka Jeff Gannon, Manwhore] was probably having a homosexual affair with a prominant White House official/staffer? Nobody gets to see classified CIA documents that easily - who did he have to blow to get access? Could he be Bush's Monica Lewinsky? Maybe there are some khakis somewhere with a Bush DNA sample on them.

Maybe not... but it would explain a lot!

Hey Guys, Help out antiwar.com

Sat Feb 12, 2005 at 11:00:19 AM PDT

They have one day to raise $12,000 dollars so they can continue their great coverage. The site was founded by a group of Liberatarians (I know, scary) but I think they do an amazing job of showing that war is not the answer. This site is great for anybody on the left or the right who is anti-war.
